The MOST important sewing of all!

My son loves his Elmo - you might have noticed Elmo in a photo here and there... and, well, Elmo is starting to show a bit of wear and tear from all that loving. And, well, his eyes came apart at the seams and the stuffing was coming out - could be from being dragged on the floor? In anycase, I had one very anxious Little Boy watching as Momma very carefully sewed those eyes back together, all the while assuring him that this was not hurting Elmo - not one bit.

All fixed! Not the prettiest sewing - but it has to hold together (oh - and I had to be fast!). And, Little Boy was just hugging and loving his Elmo, cooing in glee that HIS Elmo is all better now. Yup, the MOST important sewing of all!

You did the best step a momma could do - you took care of a well loved toy! Nice job.

What a precious little boy you have there. So glad you managed to patch poor Elmo up without any booboos.

You are a super mom doing that delicate eye surgery. But then, who could resist doing anything for that sweet, sweet face!

Oh your so right - this is the most important sewing of all! I would hate to show you my oldest daughters doll she dragged around for about 10 years. It is scarey! But I had to keep it for memories! And poor Pooh Bear who is my son's "toy", poor thing has the mange! Adam is 18 and it still shows up in our living room!

Oh and tell Little Boy that Elmo is my favorite too!

every summer we have a teddy bears hospital in the park sponsored by a local hospital for fundraising... Never thought of them actually doing repairs -- might be a real big seller then :-)

I can just imagine Little Boy's face as you stitched up Elmo. I remember my Gran having to do some major surgery on my teddy bear's back after he was left on the stove top and got badly scorched.

And the satisfaction of that completed job added to the joy that you have given is worth every careful stitch.

What a good mom! And I know the little ones pain. Years ago DS2 came screaming that the dog had killed his pound puppy. He was almost hysterical. I did as you did, stitched back together what I could, had to make new eyes. He's 25 now, and I think that pound puppy is still tucked away in his old room. So nice when you can fix what is upsetting them most.

I've had to repair a muppet face too... I ended up buying a ping pong ball, slicing it in half, and getting a darning needle hot on the electric eye of my stove to melt little holes around the edge so I could sew it on. A little round spot of permanent magic marker and the lost eye was back! lol

You're the best Mama! I've had to do some of those repairs also. Gotta keep those little boyz happy.
